Hey guys,

Been thinking of getting a cheap little car to rag around a track now and then but not really sure what to get.

The sort of thing im looking for is:
  • £1,000 or less to buy
  • Between 1.2 and 1.6 (could go higher if insurance & tax aren't too much)
  • Petrol
  • Manual
  • Small hatchback
  • Potential to fit parts from more powerful model cars by same manufacturer
  • Not expensive to tax & insure (as it will need to be driven on the road occasionally)
  • Replacement parts not too expensive

Obviously there's a lot to consider and this is not something I'm going too go out and do straight away without thinking it through but I'd quite like some suggestions from you guys.

So far I've come up with a few, my favourites being:
  • Seat Ibiza Mk2 (1.4) - Cheap to insure.
  • VW Golf Mk4 (1.6) - Biggest engine for your money although I think it might be too small an engine for the size of the car.
  • Corsa B or C (1.2 or 1.4) - Easy to get vauxhall parts where I live.

Cheer Kerja,
Engine swap was something I would consider one i've had my fun with the standard one.
Good to know there are some options! Smile

I had thought about an MX5 but i'd probably have to get a roll cage fitted prior to being allowed on a track. At least with a hatchback I have a roof if I rolled it.

But I've not written it off completely Smile

I'd say either an MX5 or an old civic with a b16 engine

Honda Civic Type R EP3 Premier Edition

Mods so far
AEM V2 Induction Kit ¦ Blitz-Nur Spec R Exhaust ¦ Rota Grid Drift 16x8" et10 in Bronze wrapped in Toyo Proxes T1-R's ¦ HSD Coilovers ¦ D2 Rear Adjustable Camber Arms ¦ Mugen Replica Rear Wing ¦ Skunk2 Gear Knob ¦ Sticker-bombed Centre Console ¦ 8000K HID Kit ¦ Metallic Purple Brake Callipers ¦ EP Racing Purple Rear Tow Hook

Progression thread can be found here

Agree with above MX5 or a civic,

Me I would go with a Mx5 loads of people use them over others and is a great car for track

Cant go wrong with an MX5, big following and they sold loads so lots of parts about. Can pick one up easily under a grand with a few parts already fitted and you can pick up a cheap cage as well. Handle very well and rear wheel drive also Big Grin

The 'Demon' is on its way :Shooting:

Now driving a Sh!tbox Sad
Smurf SOLD
