OBDII interface help
Hi All I just received a brand new Bluetooth OBDII interface "Doo-hicky", which started off as a disappointment firstly because i ordered the USB cable one not the "Blueteeth" version, secondly when having a look on the "torque webpage it says you can use them but they are the most unreliable dongles available - "generally alright but some can suffer from build quality issues affecting reliability, and causing strange things to happen like engines refusing to start. Try to avoid if you can".
I would like to find out from those of you with similar "Doo-hicky's" whether or not they have "bricked" you ecu or not and how successful you have been using these "Doo-hicky's".
Here's a picture of the one that i have:
hmmm, I still need to fiond a way to use it cos using it with an iPhone is out and i don't own an Android phone so will need to find some other way of using bluetooth connection don't know if the missus' little laptop supports blueteeth , sometimes i have a serious issue with ebay:/
Thats the same adaptor I use £14 from ebay.
Mines works spot on and does what it says on the tin.
I use torque pro and its a very good app, it can even read a pending or live fault code as you drive, it uses text to speech and then verbally tells you the code and best of all it deletes/clears the code as you drive so you never actually see the mil light illuminate or the car never goes into limp mode.
agreed with Toxo, get the USB one you wanted from them.
tehy prob wont even ask you to send that one back

I had bad luck with the cheap adapter I got off Ebay as well, but spending a little extra on a plx kiwi adapter solved all the problems and now Torque runs without any issues.
Phil you were luckier than me
Strange thing is dave it lagged badly on the Corolla TS but works 100% on the Avensis D4D
