Lads as you know I'm in the process of removing all the good and useful parts off that rough IS200 in my other thread.

One of the things it has is a short shifter and I thought I would have it for my own car, I stripped the whole lot down and went to swap them over but neither would fit in either car, the whole housing is completely different and nothing was ever gonna make them fit. Mine is a 1999 Sport and this is a 2001 SE and there are big differences in the shifter housings.

Now, what I did notice is the short shifter is identical to the OEM one in my own car, it looks to be a toyota/lexus part. There was no markings on it but it looked nothing like any of them aftermarket ones from Japspeed / B&M and others unmentionedConfusedcared:

Did the IS200 ever have an option to have a short shifter as I'm convinced this is a factory part....:confused1:

Got any pictures?
I've got a TRD short shifter in my car and it looks almost identical to the stock shifter, just has a different sized spacer at the bottom of it.

my 2005 IS200 had a shorter throw then other IS200 I have driven, so maybe there is such a thing??

No photos sorry but it must be a TRD shifter.

Does anyone know about the differences in the shifter housings. On my 99 Sport the part with two lugs that the shifter sits into is part of the gearbox casting but on the 01 SE it is a separate box that sits on top and is held in with the bolts. You can see it in the pic below.

The plastic collar are two different sizes and neither will interchange. Do I need to strip everything away and fit them on the new shifters. I'm not even sure that is possible.

Has anyone any ideas as I would really like this shifter for my own car.

Yes some is200 sports did come with short shift as standard from the factory. I have tried to change mine over with parts ordered from lexus under the chassis number of the sports. I work at lexus so we stripped mine all down to find the shifter was the same so must be something on top of the gear box. Parts lad spent a good couple of hours looking but we gave up in the end :-(

Changed in 08/2002 it would appear. Older one has the shifter on a sort of tripod like my R154, newer one has the shifter on what looks more like a pressed steel plate in an upside down U shape.
