I have just snapped off my rear fog light.... It was annoying me I sort of broke it. Anyway I fancy seeing about getting something along the lines of a brake light style (long thin and bright) rather than universal box rear brake light that sits under my car and wrecks the look lol.
So Anyway what is the law regarding the rear fog light!? Does it have to be X size by X wattage etc!?

No to size requirements, it has to be a rear mounted red light that only works when the side lights are on, easy fix for that is to take a live feed from your side lights to a switch and back down the car to your fog.

I had a red lamp instead of 2 reversing lights on the Trans AM it hardly lit up anything and passed MOT without a comment.

There are rules on where they can be mounted.

Well I know when I was living in germany and my car only had one fog light I had to swap it over from the right to the left

But if you can mount it in the middle you should be fine

Just look at the pug 206 there's is in the middle so can't see any reason why you couldnt

Didnt no that the fogs could only work when side lights on

In the Skyline I removed a reverse light on the drivers side and put a red bulb in there with a swith on the dash that lit up <---- that I knew was a requirement.

Never had a problem with that set up for six years last MOT was this July just gone.

Remember that if the car has only one fog light it has to be mounted on the right side or in the middle. It cannot be mounted on the left side.

My Skyline R32 just passed its MOT on Friday by also changing one of reverse lights to a fog light no problems no questions asked.
