Basically, I've got an IS200, and whilst the power was alright at first, it's starting to feel a bit lethargic... A common complaint, I know. However, I absolutely LOVE the car, I've spent a fair few hours and £££ on it already, so I don't wanna part with it just yet.

This is where a super/turbo charger comes in. I had originally planned on getting a TTE charger, but they're few and far between, and seem to have a fair amount of miles on them. Plus, a 50hp gain for about £2000 doesn't really seem all that great to me.

So I've decided to go down the more complicated turbo route. I'm thinking a reasonably sized single turbo, T3/T4 sized. However, having never done anything like this, I am trying to do as much research as possible, before I shell out for parts that I'll have to try and sell on when I realise I'm out of my depth.

Firstly, what exactly do I need? I'm aware that I need the turbo, BOV, manifold & wastegas, downpipe, intercooler & pipework. Will I definitely need uprated fuel injectors and boost controllers, etc?

Also, what in the way of tuning needs to be done? Say I fit it to my car, will a second hand ECU be alright, or since it's a custom build, will it need to be dyno'd and tuned before it can be driven anywhere?

Thanks for any help. I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to tuning, but I'm fairly handy with a spanner lol

Rabs probably the best for this he turbod his 200 your better off spending the money on a 1 or 2jz not much price difference but a lot of a power difference

So your tuckin 15's, that's cute but come back to me when you get some proper size wheels

Your list is spot on for the parts you need, plus a piggyback ecu like the emanage ultimate or aem.

i did a turbo build 2 years ago..... lots of things you will need. big shopping list and money for it all.

Is a 1G-GTE transplant worth doing? I know Stav's done it, but his is also pretty modified too, no?

As a stock engine, with the twin turbo set up, Wikipedia says they made 185-210bhp stock, but no idea which model/year the larger power version came in.

Just wondering, even if you got the 210bhp version, is the hassle and cost (no idea how much of either is involved) worth it for an extra 50bhp? I'm guessing, like the TT Supra 2JZ, if you want to run decent power through it, you'd need to mod it a fair bit; single large turbo, management, etc etc.

Or can the 1G-GTE be made to sit happy at about 280bhp all day long, and retain smooth power delivery and non-offensive drivability, for not a great deal of work/money?

i think you can push the 1g gte engine upto 300 if you change to single turbo like the 2jz
even think of a 2jz set up as there is one out there.

300bhp would be nice, but not really needed. 260 would be perfectly sufficient; 280 would be more than enough.
