original key case broken ??

28-08-2019, 03:58 AM #1Ok so my case has broken and so i ordered a replacement from ebay but seems that the blade is 3mm longer than my original? i took this to timpson to cut and he told me that it wouldnt work due to it being longer. Can anybody confirm if it makes that much difference as they all seem to be the same size on ebay and dont really fancy getting one direct from Lexus. My blade length is 37mm the new one is 40mm
After speaking to Jomo regarding this he got a key cut from thr base up and then when he got home cut the tip off, this was fine until he couldn't release it from the barrel as you have to push the key in to pull it out
So he got a second and left the extra length which works fine.
I'd get it cut from base to tip and see if it works

U have to take into account wear, plus the release mech in the barrel,

it's doesn't make any different as it's longer slightly the origin (as long it's reach the key barear) I've have 3 type of key fob case bought from ebay which is 40mm. had it cut at local locksmith £14 (just cut) and he does sell the key fob or valet key cut replacement with transponder (different prices)
it's in birmingham (near bullrings chinatown) hope this help
