cam pulley timing mark HELP! (with pics)
i know the repair manual says to allign the "DOT" on the mark when changing the timing belt...but when my mechanic checked, the cam is on TDC in the "LINE" and not on the "DOT"...i really dont know which marking i should follow...
from what i understand, the repair manual says...."put the crank timing in "0" then align the "DOT" on the mark in the cylinder head"...but if i follow this,my cams are not in TDC position....help guys...
I don't think you have it on Tdc when changing the cam belt mate.
Hi guys,
This pic is from the internet and not the actual car...
My question is...if i have my crank timing in "0"...wich marking should i align with the marking from the cylinder head? The "0" or the "l"....
My mechanic said the cams are on TDC with the "l" marking...i just want to confirm if this is true because what he did was set the crank timing in 0 and the cam timing in "l"

It sounds like he done the belt change with the timing set to TDC, normally it is done at 60 degrees BTDC. As long as the white mark on the crank set to the I mark on the cam pulley then everything will be okay. Just a different way of doing it.
Is the engine running okay? I hope you done the water pump, tensioner and idlers while you were in there.
