satin paint?
satin paint?
What the hell do you do to clean up a car with satin paint? Can you do the usual 2 bucket and machine polish or what?
I've not had a car with satin paint, but I've had guitars with satin paint, and polishing them will slowly remove the satin finish, leaving them shiny. Granted I'm sure the paint used for automotive's is different to the paint used on a wood guitar, but the finish is more or less identical, so I'd be worried of the same result
I think it's practically the same as normal paint, just that you use matte specific shampoos and of course you don't use polishes in the normal sense, just matte specific sealants to protect the surface.
As far as I know the fears about matte paint being a real pain aren't really true.
Btw, obviously machine polishing is a definite no! That's done to polish and smooth the surface, so you don't want to do that unless you want to turn your matte finish into a gloss one.
How do you keep it shiny (ie, satin, not matte), is it literally just the shampoo?
Yes keeping it clean and then sealing the surface with an appropriate product.
When you polish a gloss finish it is to make the clearcoat perfect again, with a matte/satin finish the whole point is that the clearcoat isn't perfect, so polishing will just make it gloss.
