Just a quick question.....

I use my iPhone for everything now including music and web.

I have an app radio head unit in my car, but since I've got an iPhone 5, it no longer works because of the new connector on the bottom.

So my question is this, I have a spare car amp knocking about I have never got round to fitting. Can I fit it, wire up my speakers to it. And just run a head phone cable from it and into my iPhone?

Bypassing the need for a head unit.

Yes. Depending on the car you might have a factory amp already fitted that you could just run the line level output from the iPhone straight to.

Is a is200se. Just want to keep it simple though, and the amp is pretty decent, so should be better sounds quality. :-)

what model is it? I'd be very surprised if there isn't one at the back.

What head unit is it? Most of them should work provided you get the 30 pin to lighning connector. Also beware I have found for some only the apple ones work and some of the other ones are very hit and miss.

Back is rarer than the front these days. The manufacturers have cottoned on to the fact that not everyone wants wires everywhere and to make things tidy costs extra. Many head units have USB and 3.5mm on the front, but getting models with them on the rear you have to go much higher up most ranges. Integration costs!

So the original app radio is only compatible with the iPhone 4/4S and will not be upgraded to accept the 5? How ridiculous is that?
