Confusedcared:

Where do i look? My brother told me that his driving instructor was excellent, and ide have to ring up the company and ask if the person still works there. But i cant seem to find the company on google anymore.

So does anybody recommend any good driving instructors in the Manchester region, as im looking to book some within the next few week :w00t:

thanks

I'm a driving instructor but I don't work in Manchester.

Good questions to ask are as follows:-

1) What teaching grade is the instructor?
Grade 4 is very average but grade 6 is very good.

2) Ask what the pass rate is. 75% first time should be about right.

3) Ask if he or she covers the DSA's cyllabus.

Just remember what you want to hear (get you through your test ASAP)and what you need to hear (over 40 hours tuition with your instructor and over 20 hours practice with a friend or relative) are two very different things when it comes to learning to drive. If you need any other advice just let me know.

Jim.

I think it fair to say now that driving test are much harder than they were 10+ years ago.

Question Should all people coming to live in the UK have to pass a UK driving test to make sure they understand the law of the roads?

Ask who all your friends used too, recommendation is the best way imho. My driving instructor was a friend's recommendation, and he was brilliant, only had 19 hours of lessons, no other practice at all and passed first time. Similar story for my sister who used the same instructor, and many others also.

Thanks all for your tips. Im wondering how many lessons to book. I have about £350 saved up and looking for a job. The thing is, i dont have acess to any other car (manual), to practice any extra hours in, and i cannot afford to get insured on a friends car.
