Hi everyone,
I'm experiencing some issues with the clutch pedal on my 350z. When sitting in traffic the engine gets incredibly hot, rising by around 50 degrees fahrenheit. It seems that the clutch pedal is sticking half way down when depressed and will not spring back unless you place your foot behind it. Driving along at 30mph and above the engine cools to around 90 degrees fahrenheit (data from the OBD reader). The clutch then starts to slowly get more responsive until you hit another set of traffic lights or more congestion (when it starts to stick again). I just wondered if this could be a heat problem that warms the clutch and is unavoidable. Other people I know with fast Cosworth Ford's experience similar issues. Is there any remedy or does the Zed only like motorways and race tracks? Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

what fluid did they put in Rabs? as it seems to be either caused by the transmision fluid, or the slave or master cylinders apparently the hoses for the clutch runs quite close to the exhaust so heat transfer from the exhaust in sitting traffic can cause troubles. looks like some people have had to swap the cylinders and have changed the fluid lines for braided types and new fluid and people seem to be happy again.

Yes, the fans are kicking in quite often. It is only occurring when idling sitting in traffic. It has got the stage where I have to pull the clutch pedal back up in each gear to avoid damaging the clutch. It takes a good five minutes of driving at 30mph before the clutch begins to act normally again. Would a trip to Abbey Motorsport help, see what they recommend? I was going to get yellow peril re-mapped anyway.

There was a recall of sorts (I think they acknowledged the problem but didn't actually recall all cars) for the Z involving clutches wasn't there?

Slave and master cylinders are notorious for 350z's unfortunately, mine are fine so far, but they are known for the problem.

I've never had any issues apart from heatsoak when the car used to stall when slowing down on a motorway (quite scary!!), but that was due to a crappy air filter and as soon as it was changed all was fine.

Cheers for the advice everyone. I've booked the car in with Abbey Motorsport and they think it is the clutch line that needs replacing. So a more resilient HEL braided hose will be fitted. I also thought while I'm there I might as well have an UPREV re-map, so getting that done on the same day too! Can't wait for Mark to work his magic there.
