It looks like I'll have my hands on a full stage 2 supercharger upgrade for my IS200 by the end of this week. It consists of a 160mm pulley as well as upgraded injectors and greddy emage plus the other usual bits but how safe would my engine be?

How would this affect the longevity/reliability of my engine and is there anything I should look out for or check?

start with a pressure check on the cylinders, make sure all the compression is as it should be, so you know rings and pistons are in fairly good health.
install a wideband gauge so you can see the air/fuel ratio's so you can read it and it sits as stoich as possible to avoid the engine leaning out. if you havent got one already that is.
and as long as the emanage is setup/mapped correctly i think you should be ok as long as you dont run toooo much boost Smile

I've had my car since it only had 14k miles on it and its only got 50k on the clock now. Regularly serviced and runs like a dream. I've seen the charger running and the emagage has already been mapped. Where do I get an afr guage from and are they easy to fit? I have a scangauge so will that help at all? I'm not too sure where to start but want to have the car as reliable as it is without the charger.

Also, with 330cc injectors and a 160mm pulley how much power should there be approx?

the emanage may need a bit of fine tuning to suit your car as no two cars are the same. scangauge doesnt read afr, widebands are easy enough theres a lambda sensor that plugs into the exhaust so you may need an extra hole cut into the exhaust if you have no spare holes, and then hook the display unit to some electric and find a mounting point for it in a gauge holder on the dash somewhere.
digital speedos are a new trader that does all the gauges so check them for a discount.
havent a clue what the power would be sorry

Cool. Thanks for the info mate. So do you think it may need remapping once fitted to my car? What if I were to go for patricks black box instead or is that only useful if using a standard pulley and injectors?

Right so looks like I'll have to spend more money then! Lol. How much is it normally for mapping? Also, are there any decent companies in the Northwest that could do it?

I thought it be fairly straight forward as its already mapped. Oh well!

boost isnt cheap unfortunately Sad
it should be ok as a base map but you want to make sure its not over/under fuelling and the timing is set up correctly, the last thing you want is for it to go bang. it shouldnt cost more than £300ish for a remap. Thor charge £360inc vat. thats were i got mine done and i think thats were Stav had his done too. They are in Coventry though so not particullary close, not sure if there are any other reputable mappers that are closer as ive not had to look any further north.

Cheers mate. Due to the price that I'm getting it for its a bargain so will more than likely go for it and fit it and see how it is but not keep the charger running. Its a DIY kit so has the magnetic clutch still so can turn the charger off til I can get it mapped properly. I guess it'll be ok to run it like that?
