Honda CRV 2000 petrol automatic

Been driving this car a while and developed an intermittent fault which has now got worse.

When driving the car suddenly looses acceleration rpm goes up but the car slows down as if its in neutral (it's not I checked)

Seems odd I drove it round the fields today no issues but put it back on the road and its hit and miss I think it's electrical but before searching the car etc thought I would ask....
And ideas guys and girls

Not a clutch issue then? Just a first thought if revs are rising whilst the car decelerates?

If it's electrical then the best man to fix it is probably.......... you!

Confusedad: It was a tough call to make, but the Supercharged IS200 is being retired. Confusedad:

Does it not still have a clutch? How does it not stall every time you stop? Or is there some kind of torque converter wizardry going on?

if its anything like my autobox, id hazard a guess at the gear change timing solenoid or something similar.
have you checked the fluid levels?

Check fluid, if it smells like burnt toast the fluid is knackered and probably the 'box also. New fluid may extend the 'box life a short while but will more then likely destroy what's left. On a brighter note it could be electrical.

Is it a CVT box?? Probably a solenoid or something but I would agree, check the fluid.

I think it should be the same box as in my smx? My does odd things as well sometimes like when you put your foot down and it drops a gear it kinda drops to 2nd hits neutral and then 2nd again all in a second or two. I've read about and it seems quite common. Lot of people say a gearbox service helps, I put a prolong gearbox treatment in mine as and its cut it down a fair bit, gear changes are much smoother as well.
