Very true toxo, the drive back from the plank n Leggett was very fuel efficient, untill boredom took hold - then it wasn't lol.

Clearly, if you drive anything with forced induction like you've got Cheryl Cole waiting for you at home, you're going to return abysmal MPG, but I'm talking about 'normal' day to day driving.
Obviously when I track it, pretty much whichever F/I engine I use will drink like an 18yr old in Ibiza...

The is300 diff lends itself to much better economy than the is200. Gearbox selection is also important if you want economy.
Boost it, get something with a 6th gear below 0.6 and put an is300 rear end on. Tune it so you get just enough boost to make cruising power around 2000 rpm and you should get much better mpg. The is200 sits high in almost every gear because it makes no power below 3500rpm.

I would love to see you get an Sr20 is200 completely running for 2k. You will also then be stuck with a car that sits close to 4000rpm on the motorway because you have the same gearbox and is200 diff, so you will be drinking fuel. You have to consider more than the engine.
Including a tune, exhaust, intercooler etc and getting the dash all working and things like ac?
