Just done a head rebuild and bolted it all down it's good so far. Cams bolted down then when I put the pulleys on the inlet marks are 2 teeth too advanced.

Does anyone know where the locating Dowell on the cam points when cylinder 1 is tdc?

I lines up the exhaust Dowell with the timing Mark and it gets back there every time and did the same with the inlet but the inlet knock over just as I reach the mark on the pulley. I'm not sure if it is meant to be under tension from a spring at tdc or not as when I took it off it never moved

No I'll take some tomorrow. Bassically there is a dowel on the cam and the pulley has a keyway cut into it so you can time the cam using the mark on the pulley.

I took the pulleys apart by accident hence the MASSIVE drama this has turned into.

If I knew where the dowels pointed at TDC I could then time it by setting the dowels and rebuilding the pulley to suit as there was no definate way of knowing the pulleys were rebuilt in the right orientation.

The setup sound similar to the 1ggte setup, have you got adjustable pullys on?

the 1ggte pulleys are actually identical to the 3sge ones just fitted the other way round so if you need some standard ones i should have some spare.

No just the standard altezza ones but I accidentally opened them and there are some marking for rebuilding them but they aren't obvious it's more an assumption so they could be oriented wrong hence my 2 tooth advance. I will rebuild it again incase I missed something.

How do you mean fit other way round? Are you sure they are the same? I've never heard that

Yea the ge is very similar but tuned a lot more. Has dual vvti unlike the gte which is only inlet. It's alright I think I've got it. Inlet pulley has never been apart so took it apart to compare with exhaust and the keyway lines up with the mark on the pulley so I just need to hold it timed and put the belt on. Must have got lucky before when I took it off and it didn't spin. I'm just going to try it and hope for the best
