parthiban I think he means the bit around the tape deck, on earlier cars it's a silvery gold colour, on later cars (post 04 i think) it's all black.

Ah yes, thanks, I get it now

Yeah thats what i meant...its a shame...because i dont mind the ipod quality but still i wouldnt mind having 6cds...but the cd button does not even respond...and when i press eject nothing happens, when i press load it jus clicks inside for like 10 seconds then nothing happens...

If it's a top-loading CD player then it's quite easy to remove it, take the cover off and free the discs, and this often (temporarily, at least), sorts the problem.

However if it's a bottom-loader then it's a nightmare to dissasemble and it's probably a terminal failure (unless a quick whack sorts it out lol).

iLLzLex 2000 (x)

Late 2000 or early 2000?

Mines a late 2000 model (October) and it has a top loading CD unit. This has failed in the past (luckily my car was still under warranty when the CD unit failed- Lexus replaced it FOC).

i think its late 2000...it goes like this...trc and heat seater switches, radio channel buttons, tape hole, then its the cd slot

Sounds like a top loading unit to me.

If the CD slot is at the top, which it sounds like, then you may be in luck. It's pretty straightforward to remove the head unit, then you can open up the top and free any trapped CDs. You may well find that it works fine after that, and there's no need to replace it.

Wozza has a walkthrough for removing the head unit but it hasn't been posted up on here yet. I have a version in a Word document that I can email you if you PM me your email address.
