If you remove the air box, e.g. to install an induction kit or similar, then you need to find something to do with that hose/outlet. The simplest thing to do is to remove the hose and just install a tiny filter on the outlet so that the vapour can escape that way.
No, it doesn't improve anything, other than someone's bank balance for the little filters ! :biggrin:

Looks pretty cool tho, would this not very slightly improve emissions? as the oil vapour is being filtered out under the bonnet and not into the cars air flow if that makes sense:blink:

I suppose so but I can't imagine it would be a measureable effect, i.e. I would have thought (but could be totally wrong) there's only going to be a pretty small amount of oil vapour escaping in the first place.

Really mines just blanked off so think i'll stick it back in when MOT time comes but untill then the filter looks much cooler:biggrin:

19-08-2016, 10:24 AM #18I think the emissions thing is just about the vapour being released into the atmosphere, which isn't tested by the MoT, so having a breather filter on there shouldn't affect the emissions test. With the OEM setup any vapour is being routed back through the engine and cats etc, so stops it being released to the atmosphere directly.

The OEM one is like stevie said, but you have to look at how it works, it dont just let vapour out? there is abit more to it than that, the breather pipe go,s to the inside of OEM air box so when the air comeing into the airbox go,s pass the outlet of the breather pipe it pulls the vapour out, this is why you see alot of jap cars running an oil catch can, as the OEM pipe go,s to the "can" then back to the intakepipe or airbox
