Hi, I need some advice and help with wiring. I am plonking a 1JZ gte vvti into my lexus is200, i have bought the engine which came with an EMU ecu already wired into the engine, I have pretty much all other parts i need, front sump, mounts etc, just waiting on a gearbox then i can get bits like drive shaft and gear linkage made up to fit.

All mechanical side of things im pretty hot on, but when it comes to electical side of things im not so good, im not sure what i need to marry up and what i need to run to get the car talk to the engine. I do however know about electronics, PCB's circuits etc so im not completely lost on whats going on.

What i need help on is the actual wiring side of things, what do i need to wire in to make the engine all work, does the emu ecu need to talk to the is200 ecu, or can i just scrap the is200 ecu and run everything through the emu. I also have the 1jz vvti ecu that originally came with the engine.

Thanks for any help, i know this is a long process and not just rushing in, i know everything else about engines and cars and this is the last for me to learn.

Cheers

The 1jz Ecu should run the engine for you, was it originally an auto or manual 1jz? And what box does it have now?

As for the 1g ecu, it depends what you want to keep in the car

The EMU ecu is running the engine, I think it was a manual, iylt did have an r154 bolted to it but was sold about 5 minutes before i managed to buy both.

Im not to worried what i keep working in the car. To be honest this is the bit im lost on, i dont actually know what the is200 ecu runs, im assuming some of the dash gauges and the central locking??? what else?

Cheers

Have you got the wiring diagrams?

The ecu talks to the abs, the dash, is the immobiliser for the car, and the climate control.

The stock ECU controls a lot of stuff, including instruments, security, etc. I would keep the IS200 ECU in place and just "steal" from it the engine sensors and control wiring from the 1J that the EMU will need. It is possible to loose the IS200 entirely, Stav has done it I think? But it's a lot more work.

Confusedad: It was a tough call to make, but the Supercharged IS200 is being retired. Confusedad:

So its ok to run the is200 ecu but when its not plugged into the engine? so it runs everything else? and i guess connecting only wires it requires

The emu i have is already wired in to the 1jz.

Nope. The ecu still needs signals from the engine to run the dash, aircon etc.

Ah ok, well i don't have aircon so that's 1 less thing to worry about.

So i will need to run both ecu's, the EMU to control the engine, ignition and timing etc. and the is200 ecu to control the rest of the car. Both will need to use outputs on the engine to know whats going on. Will both read the sensors properly if wired in together?

Sorry if its a stupid question, im just trying to get my head around it.

Also i take it things like speedo and rev counter will need to be done seperetly?

Cheers
