decat manifold
decat manifold
hi all,
how difficult is it to decat the original manifold on a is200,is it a matter of beating the cats out or is cutting them out the better solution?
and once they are out will i need any modification on the sensors?
i was thinking of buying a second hand manifold and tampering with it a bit instead of buying a expensive stainless one?
any help greatly appreciated as always.:thumbup1:
I have just bought a stainless one from the state's and now have the problem of the post cat sensors. Was thinking of extending them to behind the main cat but not sure if anyone else has had any success with that mod! Manifold was only £170 incl taxes, so not worth dicking about with std manifold although lots of people have just banged the insides out of them!
So you've bought a stainless system, why would you want to extend the sensors?
I have done away with the std manifolds with cats, so was going to attempt to fit post cat sensors behind the main cat! Will that work??
Why would you got them there? Why not just on the manifold?
Pre cat sensors staying on the manifold but post cats need to go after the main cat to avoid eml. Does that make sense?
Can't seam to find them anywhere mattlaw, that was my first option!
I'm a little confused. There is three sensors on the IS200.
Two in the manifold, and one post cat.
If you've removed all the cats it shouldn't affect the front two as they are used for fuel trimming.
The last one will bring up an ecu light.
You can either fit an emulator like Matt says or a spacer to draw it back a little and that can sometimes work.
Two in the manifold are staying so just the one that tests the cat is working. Why can't I just put it after the main cat. Don't want to be doing the job twice. Live to get it right first time. IS300 by the way !
