My new toys
Hi everybody, not being here for a while. I had some issues with the car but now it is running well. I had some stall issues and idle problems due to the wrong position of the MAF and that i fitted an open loop HKS BOV. Well 2JZGTE VVTi do not like open loop BOV. Also initially i installed the maf prior the massive turbo, which confused the reading of the maf when the bov operated. So the solution was to move the maf just before the throttle and fit a closed loop bov just after the turbo (i got a bov from a gtr35). Now everything rus fine.
Furthermore i needed to fit another coilover setup since the 2JZ is a very heavy engine. So I got a set of new CUSCO coilovers with 16kg at front and 10kg at the rear and now the car is safe and fun to drive. Especially when it reaches top speed of 180mph (307km) as seen on my GPS!
I also fitted watter lines to cool the massive turbo and ordered a turbo blanket from thermal zero in USA, I avoided to go for a cheap chinese product after reading on the net what these products could cause to the engine bay. A lot of heat is disipated in the engine compartment and soon the exhaust manifold and downpipe will be heat wrapped.
In addition I purchased an altezza digital cluster, the one that shows the speed in digital units. In order for the tachometer to work correctly I had to fit a Dakota SIG-8 converter and for the oil gauge to work i installed an oil pressurer sender from an altezza. Last job to do is to make the water temp gauge to work which is a pain to do due to the MPX system, but I am working on it at the moment.
Lastly a fuel pump controller was fitted to adjust the massive fuel pump (AEM 350lpm) when ignition is on and during low rpm.
Many oem parts were changed with new since the engine was probably stored at warehouse for a long time and many parts had beed deteriorated.
The gearbox shifter need new bushes to minimize the shifter woble movements and make the changes more crispy. I ordered a set from driftmotion.
So as you see a lot of fine tuning was needed after the swap. A suggestion from me to you is have a good thought before you take this route because you will need to spend a lot of money and have a lot of passions until everything is working perfectly and enjoy the machine in your hands.
Sounds good mate! Glad it's running well
Repositioned the MAF and also fitted a larger Apexi Air Filter. New induction kit needed to be constructed. Pipe size: 100mm.
Need to remove the red radiator hoses. Do not much with the rest of the engine bay.
