Honda Prelude Type S reporting.
Honda Prelude Type S reporting.
Hi all, im Sam from Chippenham, Wiltshire.
My car is a version of the fifth generation Prelude, a high-performance model called the Type S, painted in Flamenco Black Pearl. It was only available in Japan. It has the 2.2 L H22A, featuring VTEC and producing 217 hp instead of the standard 185 bhp. the increases came from the Dynamic Chambering air intake, a larger throttle body design bored to 62 mm, a redesigned exhaust system with 2¼" pipes. higher lift cams and higher compression pistons.
In addition to a higher output engine, the Type S features an overhauled front suspension layout with double lower ball joints to give a steeper camber curve when cornering.
Instead of LSD, the Type S acquired Honda technology known as the Active Torque Transfer System (ATTS), in essence an external hydraulic differential that splits up to 80% of engine output to the wheel that is loosing traction on the bend, effectivly pushing you back into the apex.
The Type S has an Active Control ABS system, different from the standard ABS systems.
This is how I bought it.

At one point i owned 3 generations of prelude. white jdm 2.0i 3rd gen, a ukdm 2.0i and this 5th gen.
i also had another 4th gen prelude i made into a mugen replica.
i also made some flip-flop boot hinges.
Along with the preludes, i have owned many japanese cars from accords, civics and a 3ltr supra turbo.
anyway. away from my car history lesson. here is my type s as is stands.
Body styling:-
Wings West polyurethane front lip and side skirts
Mugen rear spoiler and lower bumper canards
Honda access bonnet spoiler
interior:-
red centre consul and carpet
half leather/suede style interior.
also in October 2014 I sourced a used but very low mileage engine, gearbox and atts unit as the gearbox mount shattered and the engine smoked.
