Jimbobs Lexus IS200 Turbo!
Jimbobs Lexus IS200 Turbo!
well i have ordered my adapter plate now from PMC Motorsport, next i will order my gearbox. Then i can get that mounted and sort shifter location.
Didnt have much i could do till the new parts arrive so had a little tidy up of the barn looks alot better now.
Jimbob-T-Lex From researching by all accounts the r154 gearbox slips a lot and is like driving a truck. Obviously people's opinions but I don't want to pay £1500 for one and not know what life it has had. The BMW box can handle more torque an is a lot cheaper

Yea maybe it does depend on box. I cant find the link i found before for the BMW gearbox conversion. But all in it was around the same price an r154 maybe £800. but does depend on box, it was a 6 speed though. Could have been an old link with old prices.
Well adapter is £200 flywheel is £400 then gearbox say £400 and stil got clutch to get lol

Adapter plate and gearbox are now ordered so I can crack on why this and get mounted and sort shifter location. Then get measurements for the prop and get one made up.

Well its time for an update as i have not had a chance to work on the car with Christmas and New year on its way.
The adapter plate arrived so bolted it on.
I also managed to find a standard turbo for cheap so mounted that on, but still need to order all the gaskets.
Started to fit all the pipe work back on for the turbo.
Then the new BMW GS6-53DZ gearbox arrived so got that mounted and then i could see if i needed to do any transmission tunnel work to get it to fit in.
Few bangs and bits cut off and the engine and gearbox are back in.
I still need to get a few bits like braided lines for turbo, gaskets etc also the flywheel and twin plate BMW M5 clutch.
I have ordered the shifter linkage and mount then i can get the gearbox fully mounted as supported by a jack at present and get the shift location correct.
Next on the list will be get the propshaft measured so i can get one made and order the flywheel and clutch. Hopefully then i do not have to have the engine back out anymore.
All taking lots of time but progress.
