When changing the wheels on your car for a different sort, the question of wheel offset is an important one in terms of making sure the new wheels will fit correctly (i.e. that they will neither stick out too far so that they extend beyond the arches, nor that they will foul the inner side of the wheel arch).

There's an article, with some diagrams, explaining wheel offset here. The diagrams show wheels with a positive offset, i.e. wheels whose mounting hub is closer to the outside than the centreline. It's also possible to have wheels with a negative offset, i.e. whose mounting hub is closer to the inside than the centreline.

There's a useful calculator here which you can use to show how differing offsets will affect how the wheel sits.

an offset can make or break the look of a car et40 =Blush et-5 =Confusedcared: and depending on the car et10-15 =:thumbup1:


i personally run staggered fitments 17" /9j et9 on the fronts and 18"/9.5j et12

ive actually wanted to ask whats the pcd of a altezzea as im considering keeping my SSR sp1's to put on an altezza but wasnt sure if theyd fit.

arch rolling is also well worth considering to get the wheel to fit "just right " in the arch, and i use a guy called phil who runs a firm called archenemy with various agents around the country.

so do you think id be able to squeeze me wheels under altez archs ???

No, sorry, those low offsets won't work, they'll stick out a long way (unless you widen the arches etc). The standard factory wheels are ET50 !

No, sorry, those low offsets won't work, they'll stick out a long way (unless you widen the arches etc). The standard factory wheels are ET50 !

Well you probably wouldn't need quite that much space, the standard ET50 wheels don't come right out to the edge of the arch. You can get some wide arch kits, I'll have a look around.

Well you probably wouldn't need quite that much space, the standard ET50 wheels don't come right out to the edge of the arch. You can get some wide arch kits, I'll have a look around.
