We have a Bosch tumble dryer (one of the sensor type ones) and it's been having problems recently. Machine will start as normal, but often before it ends drying, it will stop.

It doesn't stop because it think it's dry, it's almost as though the machine resets - the start light flashes just as it does when you first switch the machine on.

This is a proper long shot but any ideas on what will need replacing? My thoughts are that it must be an electronics problem, but a replacement board is £135 so that is a last resort. I'm wondering whether it's something to do with the heat or moisture? Could it simply be a failed seal somewhere that's getting into the electronics?

Or is it best to just get a Bosch engineer out and swallow the £100 call out fee?

Parthiban you could pick up a new machine for nearly that call out charge or replacement board.
If i get problems with product like these i throw them away and start again.
Because normally when one thing goes some thing else always follows.
Sorry i can't help with your fault.

Yep that's a fair point and it is part of the thought process too - the machine's quite a few years old, a new one is in the region of £4-600 so not a lot more if a hefty repair is required.

Only reason I'm thinking about it is that it might be a simple fix. Did the same with a Bosch washer dryer in my apartment - almost bought an £800 replacement but before I did took a punt on it being a fault with the door sensor. Replaced it for the grand sum of £15 and it's working perfectly again!

The thing with Bosch machines is that they're built to last forever, so it's hard to throw it away when there might not be anything serious wrong with it.

I do agree with your statement with bosch that it normally last forever.
Have you tried googleing the model you have and seeing if they have a problem that matches your issues that you have with yours?

Yep I've done that, looked on a few forums too - doesn't seem to be many problems of any type with that model, but I guess that's understandable with the relative simplicity of a dryer Smile

Have managed to find the Bosch workshop manual though, so maybe that'll help diagnose the problem...........
