Brake piston knocking... need help
A while ago I noticed a knocking sound from the front nearside brake caliper everytime I hit the brakes. I took the caliper off and found out that the other piston gets stuck, thus pushes later than the other, hence, the knocking sound. I pushed and pulled both pistons several times and cleaned the rubber seal and it disappeared. Yesterday it happened again. Can anybody tell me what the problem is?
You really need to get the caliper serviced, sticking pistons are quite common on the IS200. You can do this yourself if you're feeling confident (Toyota/Lexus even do a servicing kit with the replacement parts), or take it to a garage to do it. I would at least get both sides done at the front at the same time, even if you don't do the back ones too (the front brakes obviously take more of the strain).
i get this after very heavy braking, quite annoying!
By the way, it might be the sliders that are the problem, and need greasing perhaps ?
