I would have thought insurance would be affected due it being a safety feature lol, Toxo tells me he knew of someone that had a front end shunt in a GTR with similar damage but needed a front wing and front radiator and that came to around £22k which is near enough a non-economical repair

It will be a write off then should the car be over 3/4 years old? Due to depreciation etc.

Yeah that's ridiculous, losing interest in the GT-R again........the whole point in it is that it's like a supercar without the costs - if it has the costs might as well buy a used Ferrari :w00t:

Marsdendean It looks like a very bad system IMO. What is the point in opening the bonnet a little bit, wont the person who hits it fall "into" the bonnet rather than bouncing off it?

Doesn't quite work like that, the back of the bonnet pops up (not the front), and then theoretically cushions the impact of the person landing on the bonnet.......

Its supposed to stop them from hitting the engine under impact when hitting the bonnet with force and forces them over the car instead of through the windscreen?

Marsdendean I know. But does the hinges have some give, so in effect when someone hits it hard, it begins to close - or does it stay in the open position?
Yes it does, it's has some kind of strut or something underneath that compresses to absorb some of the impact.

Marsdendean Pointless - If your going to get hit at 30MPH + your mainly a gonner!! I dont agree with incorprating systems like this at such costs, when more expensive cars dont.
I tend to agree, although I'd like to know how much difference it would make in an impact before deciding whether it's worth that cost.

It's mainly the Japanese that have implemented this - I don't think the Germans have at all which may explain whether it's a good idea or not.

Ban pedestrians.

Just think how much faster the car will go without all that unnecessary weight.
