only thing to remember is that in summer everyone is showing "granny" the mountains and they all travel to which area.......? yep u guessed it the grimsel, furka area so the roads are very full.

if you want to see the best of these roads and not get stuck behind grand dad out for the sunday drive then i would really consider doing something during the week.

i have returned from a weeks tour of switzerland, austria and italy etc and some of the best passes were in the that area but it was mid week and the roads were quiet so you could go as slow or as quick as u wished without some knobber right up your backside....

Rob as you know i have already done this route and the roads were very quite.
I not sure if anyone would really like to rally drive these roads were some of the drops we saw.
In the trip we were only over taken by a Lotus and we only got stuck behind one vehicle for around half a mile.

Rob i am of course hoping that both you and Supergoose can choose the best passes for driving and photograph's and as i sure your agree they don't get much better than these trips.
I have also done the Italy trip when i did ski doing and some of the hills are great as well.

Hi all,

I've just been directed to this site by Gord, not sure if he is a regular on here or not.

I'm looking at organising a similar trip in August,

http://www.focusstoc.com/forums/August-2...ntry613899

just wondering if you would be interested in combining trips? Unfortunately I cant move my dates as I dont return from Afghan until the 2nd week in August. I understand if you cant move your dates by this much though.

As for the 'ring, most comments are really justified, I've been a regular there this year as I live only 100 miles away and there have been occasions where the track has been closed for well over 4 hours whilst they clean it from an accident. I'd hate to think that people wouldn't get to experience it on a holiday like whats being planned for the sake of an extra day, I'd also recommend calling in on the way back through to break the trip up and use the laps that you didnt use on the first visit.

I'll hope to hear from you all.

It maybe worth us going to Switzerland first then returning to the ring and then members can spend as much time as they want at the ring.

Mick5994 what date on the second week of August are you guys attending the ring and what hotels are you staying at, also do you have cost for these hotels.

I have only just started to put this trip into planning so as of yet there are no definate dates. I'm waiting to find out from the SToc who will be interested in making the trip before I go firm on dates, it just wont be before the 15th, probably look at getting to the 'ring on either a Saturday/Sunday on the way down and returning via there on a Thursday, that way we get a full public day on the way out and if peole wish to remain for longer they could get another few hours/day the following weekend. It also means it gives people an opportunity to travel across after finishing work on a Friday.

I'm interested in a couple of the passes that you've mentioned so if you do head off before our trip I'd be interested to know where you will be staying.

The hotel I'll be looking at using in Nurburg/Adenau will be the Blau Ecke, they are always helpful and the service is spot on. They usually throw in a small discount if its a group booking too.

I not sure we can do both these trips together as your looking at just over a week in total and this is going to be over most people budget i am guessing...

Supergoose / Rob (Swiss tour guide) is only available Saturday or Sunday and if people are only interested in racing at the ring at the weekend then that just over a week in total.

What do members want to do?
Please give indications if you want to continue with both or do the
Ring this could be earlier in the year, or the
Swiss trip would need to be in the summer due to snow up in the mountain
