How to change the front brake disc's on a skyline R33 GTST
How to change the front brake disks.
Difficulty:
A lot easier than you may think.
Tools needed:
1 x Ratchet
1 x 19mm socket
1 x 10mm socket
1 x Extension for ratchet
1 x wire brush
1 x Power bar
1 x Length of wire or cable tie's
Process:
This is what you will basically start with, my pads were already out. Do the usual jack up on stands take wheels off.
Use the 10mm socket to remove the bolts circled in yellow, then use the 19mm for the bolts circled in red. You may need a power bar for it as these ones are torqued quite high.
The caliper should come off quite easily, get your wire or cable tie and tie the caliper to an available arm.
This is how it should look now
The disks may not just pop off the hub, if this happens get your threaded bolt and screw into hole.
With the disk off
New v Old
Put the new disk onto the hub and get teh wheel bolts and tighten them right up, this will get the disk fully seated in the hub. Replace the caliper by the reversal of removal
I took the opportunity to put the new pads on at the same time and always recommended when fitting new disc's.
