MOT the Morn
I don't know much about the supercharger conversion - does it keep the AFM or does it move the engine to MAP based management? If it keeps the AFM then the air filter condition won't make much difference but if it moves to MAP management then it will need to be spot on clean.
IME the cat has to actually be on fire before the warning light will come on. Admittedly that's in a different car but it's just gonna be a temperature sensor and because the cat's operating temperature is so high in normal conditions it has to be insanely high before it'll trigger a warning.
I'm not totally convinced by the 'higher octane fuel burns cleaner' argument either - octane rating is not a fuel purity scale, it's a measurement of resistance to abuse before pre-ignition/detonation. So what you really want is the closest RON rating you can get to whatever your car is mapped to run on!

Sorry to hear about your problems Mr Mole!
If the MOt tester is your mate, then you don't want him to do anything that makes him uncomfortable but to be honest I do think you just need to find a "friendly" MOT station. With the number of Scoobies/Evos around your end (most I bet running fully decatted) their must be a few about!!
Wish I could help!

Anees Sorry to hear about your problems Mr Mole!I will try and get it through the mot the proper way first then if that dose not work then I'll see what can be done the other way :blushing:

having a dirty air filter can confuse a car though trust me the amount of times i've removed an air filter to get a car through its mot!!!
a car we'll say is like a human body if i put a rope round your neck and pull it tight your body adjusts your breathing to suit but you still get breathless if you know what i mean.
a blocked air filter does the same although the car changes the fueling to suit the blocked filter it will still run rich.
yes cleaning the foam filter is fine thats how i used to clean mine.

2tongues Not having a cat won't automaticly fail your MOT - however if the emissions are to high clearly it will fail, some of these Scooby's/Evo's run their engines exceptionally hot and then insert the MOT magic wand up the exhaust - hey presto a pass without a cat.

Any news Moley? Hope you're having a bit more luck today.
Have you changed anything since last years MOT and if so could you possibly put it back to that for the time being?
