Cold weather
Cold weather
James S I agree with all the points made on diesel engines, although I have limited experience of one. A Megane 1.9tdi hire car in Ibiza earlier this year. It pulled like a train, but it honestly just gave up the ghost far too quick.
Twice a week when I am at the fuel pump, I swear down I am going to trade in and get a diesel. But then I drive 100yards down the road, and realise the error of my ways.
Granted the IS200 is a tad slow, but you just have to drive better! And I've out dragged a few VAG diesels. Eon, Golf and Audi 1.9TDi's tend to fall by the way side.
My Is also runs a bit better in the cold, when its really hot, it just feels a bit sluggish. But think thats the lack of induction kit.

I just posted anothe thread with my plans for the Is, yeah when I do the big service in Jan, I will probably get a K n filter. Don't want to spend too much money under on the engine, as I don't want to buy anything that'll get binned when/if I do turbo conversion.
But yeah, might try a uprated filter, is the KnN best????
The k&n is a good filter mate, quite a few of the guys use them, Parthiban has the one that i had in his IS200, so if you do get one you can usually sell them on when you do the turbo conversion :thumbup1:
parthiban Yeah I know the feeling, that's what I think quite often now, doing about 250 miles a week so that's about £75 every week and a half :Sulk:
You're right though the engine does run better in cooler weather, my problem is that when it's cold and the engine is cold too it sounds quite rough, once the engine warms up though it's all good.
