1g-fe Jun Lightweight Flywheel
hi guys
i am about to buy one of http://www.nengun.com/jun/light-ultra-light-flywheels
but would it be ok if i keep the car standard?
because it says on the website "JUN Ultra Light Weight Flywheel is targeted the customers who regard the higher rotation area for their highly modified engines"
thanks guys :thumbup1:
wahid
As I understand it, your car will rev more freely/accelerate quicker. But the trade off is it will take more throttle on hills etc due to the loss of weight in the fly.
Marsdendean And im guessing that will mean more clutch's????

no judderings down to a warped clutch or flywheel.
or if you have a paddle clutch
How lightweight flywheels work link. Interesting read.
Another point worth mentioning is in turbo cars the heavier flywheels help the engine to keep the revs up during gear changes therefore keep the turbo spooling better - which is why I have a normal weight fly on my car.
I've got one being fitted to my car at the moment, along with an uprated clutch and turbo conversion
I'll be very happy to get rid of the juddering !

There are differing opinions but some people seem to have found that replacing the flywheel can cure the juddering. Replacing it with another dual-mass one from Lexus can help, not just lightweight ones. However the problem is that the Lexus ones are about twice the price of the lightweight one.
I don't know if there was perhaps a design fault with earlier Lexus flywheels perhaps ?
The trouble with dual-mass flywheels is that if they do develop a problem, you can't just skim them to fix them, they have to be replaced.
