Had to ditch the car......
Had to ditch the car......
Left work early because of the snow today, but got no more than 20m from the car park before I got totally stuck. Managed to get the car into a taxi rank which wasn't too far from me (hope it's still there in the morning) and then got the tube home.
The problem now is that if the weather doesn't clear up soon, how do I get the car home? Will the AA tow my car home for me tomorrow if it's still snowy or is it stuck there until the weather gets better?
Try taking some grit with you? If its near the taxi rank, or any main roads, the conditions might get better with gritters. If you can get some grit to your car somehow, you could maybe dig yourself out?
To be honest, looking at the state of the roads at home too, I think it was a bit of a blessing that I didn't get on the road - they're solid with traffic, and really icy, I never would have got very far.
Better that I could leave it somewhere safe and could get the tube than get stuck in the middle of a dual carriageway.
Grit's an interesting idea, but not going to work if there's still a lot of snow around. But the forecast looks to be sunny and 3 degrees, so hopefully that will be enough for it all to clear
Actually while I was stuck contemplating what to do, this truck tried to attack the same incline - got a bit further than I did, but then got stuck to, tried to come back down and got all out of shape and was at an angle blocking the whole road when I left. So at least it wasn't just me.
Was a little embarrassing sitting there spinning my wheels when a 325 just steamed past me - we moan about the tyres a lot, but the traction control makes a huge difference too as clearly his DSC was doing a pretty good job.
Rabster im stranded at my work ditched the car here might just sleep here 2nite lol

sorry to hear that mate,
Just a thought but is it actually in the taxi parking area? a lot of traffic wardens will stick a ticket on it if it is? even in bad weather
Marsdendean I got mine out before but took about an hour. T/C did nothing apart from spin one wheel at around 5 turns a minute.I don't think that's the TC, that's your diff sending all the power to one wheel. With a limited slip diff you'd still get some traction on both wheels at the same time.

Yeah totally understand what you're all saying about the taxi rank but I couldn't do anything else with the car as I physically couldn't move it.
I'll be back there first thing in the morning to move it if I can, I've logged it with the police though so there is a record of it if necessary. Either way if I get fined, I get fined, but other than sleeping in the car I had no option ad:
steviewevie I've got a bad feeling it's going to all freeze overnight and be even worse tomorrow. In the next couple of days hopefully it'll start to clear up.
