Be VERY VERY Careful on the roads!
yeh well seems like most of manchester aint been done and i really wanna complain
Manchester City Council are responsible for the gritting in their area. You could phone up the Council offices and ask how you complain about gritting (or lack of).
There are links here on their website to show the routes they grit as a priority.
Gord Just been up Glossop, well its well coming down and i mean coming down, people that know the area will know the roads are steep cared:Did you make it to Steve's ?

Gritter tried to get up our hill in reverse a bit ago. With 3 grit bins on our street empty, and about 6 others on nearby streets, they needed filling. The gritter put grit on the area near the junction, but other than that, the street is still bad, and cars cannot get up or down.
Phoned the council and they said "Were trying to fill as many as we can and are doing them area by area, yous should be filled up shortly" I asked why it wasnt done BEFORE the snow, as it will be full again when we dont actually need it, and also said a gritter tried to get up our street but failed. Their reply "Well he will have told the communications manager and they will have to sort another route"....
Its just pathetic, now i have to go and get my spade and dig 2 tyre marks so my dad can get up the street in his van

What was the quattro audi like in the snow? Starting to think they might make a lot of sense!
what i want to know is why road tax has constantly gone up, along with other taxes. Motorists are constantly picked on for "not being safe" weather its speed limits, mobile phones, smoking, anything really.
But councils get away with allowing the roads to be dangerous to everyone? Surely a public service like gritting should not be worse than ever?
gritters used to go everywhere before you got out of bed, now they do the main roads and seemingly only during normal working hours.
Its an absolute joke how the councils and the government get away with it.
I'd hazard a guess that it's because no-one really seems to care about it other than the few days every few years that it's a problem. Not saying that justifies it though.
