A new battery *might* fix the problem temporarily, i.e. it'll have some power in it to start the car. But if the alternator is playing up then it'll kill the new battery too, you really need to get someone to take a look at it if the voltmeter really is showing that low.

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !

It might be the battery, I think mine was showing under 12V when idling when it was on its way out - new battery fixed the problem. Hope it's not the alternator as that doesn't sound cheap.......

Did it struggle to start now? When my battery was on its way out for several weeks beforehand it really didn't like starting up as much as before...........if its really healthy starting up now could it still be a battery problem?

If the gauge goes up after starting it sounds like your alternator is doing its job? think the best thing to do is, put the multi-meter on the battery pos and neg terminals! get the reading without it running and then get someone to start the car while your watching the meter, to see if the voltage drops below 12v when it turns over? Mine dropped down to around 9v when my battery was knackered on start up? but the voltage went back up after it was running to around 14v?

The voltage will drop when you start it, but should usually stay around 12v+

Hope you get it sorted mate, as its a pain in the ass when you cant use your motor and not knowing if its going to make the trip?
