new car??
new car??
Just thinking to replace my current is200, choices are,,
PRIUS 3rd Gen, advantages £15 r/tax, 50mpg, no congestion charges, smooth power delivery, electronic braking, electric operation a/c, technically advanced.
IS300 sports cross, advantages luxury, driving experience, super smooth power delivery, level of trim, image,
My only concern about the is300 would be the fuel consumption as my 200 gives at most 24-30mpg, so I need your honest feedback on the 300's mpg and opinions on either
Cheers guys
phil
My IS300 and my brother's IS200 Sport have almost identical MPG.
Don't think you'll really get 50mpg from a 3rd-gen Prius.
If you want to enjoy driving, get the IS300. If you're not bothered about the driving enjoyment and want it to be cheaper to run, get the Prius.
What's the situation with the batteries of the Prius now that those models will be getting quite old, e.g. how long do they last given they must be very expensive when they're worn out ?
Prius is full gadgets and a nice looking car. IS300 can turn up to be a fun machine. Between the two i would chose IS300 if i wanted a sport car with reasonable performance and Prius if I just like to enjoy driving and have fuel economy.
The guys all have a good point, they are opposite sides of the spectrum and so it comes down to what you actually want.
I as an IS300 owner would say that you should get that over the Prius  If i am to put my 300 on cruise control at 80mph then the indicator on the dash shows somewhere between the 30-40mpg so around 35mpg. Round town its is less prob about 20mpg.
Yesterday for instance I did a 180 mile round trip with some motorway but only about 20 mins worth the rest A roads and so was travelling between 30 and speeds i cannot mention and used about half a tank of V-Power.
To me that was awesome as the subaru would have prob used a whole tank
If you can afford the extrra running costs, petrol, tax etc then might as well get something fun and also very practical!!
The Scooby is 4WD so will always use a lot of fuel, but can't be beaten for fun on the A roads.
You really thinking of this dad?
Seems nice you thinking of a sportscross.
And stevie, we get around 56mpg from our prius
Oli And stevie, we get around 56mpg from our priusFrom the 3rd gen one ? Cool, didn't think you'd achieve that.
