I have bought a new case off ebay for my master key as mine has broken,

1.) I am presuming that you can just switch the internals as it is a sealed unit?

2.) I have then been to a key cutting place who says that it cannot be cut as it has a chip hidden in the key somewhere which also needs to be programmed and it is not as simple as cutting the new key and swapping the internals, does this sound right to people?

Cheers guys

1 - Yes

2 - That's not right, anyone can cut it if they have the right sort of machine.

firstly Steve, you have got to have a prize for the fastest reply i have seen

secondly thank you for the reply as my suspicion was confirmed Smile

Now does anyone know anywhere in the Bristol / Weston super Mare area that'll cut the key OR send it to someone who will get it done for me ?

Russelin just take it to different shoe repair shops that have key cutting.

The blade that they use are smaller than the standard cutters these shop normally have, but some do have the smaller cutters...

russelllinn 1.) I am presuming that you can just switch the internals as it is a sealed unit?

Re-reading this, I'm not sure I understood your question correctly. I was answering "Yes" to "you can just switch the internals", that's what you meant, isn't it ? The internal bit is a sealed unit.

Because I just realised you might have made a typo and meant that the whole thing is sealed and so you *can't* swap the internals (which isn't true) ?
