Saraj if it means buying another astra, or keeping the one i got and repair what i can, then so be it, dont want to rush into it

Is the astra more damaged than it looked then? I didn't think it was too badly damaged, if that is the case and you're thinking of getting an IS200 is it not better to just leave it and save all the cash you have?

Obviously if it isn't driveable then it needs work!

Saraj wow im impressed, the other drivers insurance called and we settled at 1250 cheque, as full and final settlement, they not going to even look at the car !

i might be looking at is200 next !! 400 quid for my astra as it is, thats 1650, and theres some on autotrader i like at 2500, so just need another what 850 then im sorted. just the problem with insurance it will shoot up from 78 to about 130-140 per month, need to see if i would be able to afford it

Are they not writing the car off then ? Because if they are, the car will become their property and you'd have to buy it back off them if you still wanted it.

the rear light requires replacement, bumper repair as its broken up and wheel arch dented and a dent where the petrol cap is. if i replace the bumper and light, then its not too bad, thats what im thinking and like you said save the car cash

no they agreed not to write the vehicle off, they not going to even inspect it, thats why the 1250 was even more lucarative lol

Can't believe your luck there!!

Save the cash, repair the astra so its legal drive it around until you have the £'s for an IS200 without stretching your household budget. Simples.

Wow, sounds like a good result ! I can only guess that they're still overwhelmed with claims from all the snow and ice, and are trying to settle relatively small (in their terms) claims like this over the phone to save time.

more then likely, but if they were to inspect, they would have to take the car and store it untill its inspected, provide a hire car, matching the same sort of spec to mine, costs for a inspector to go out and value it, and then pay out what ever it would have been, as it probally would have been deemed as a write off, that would have cost them alot more then 1250 in my opinion !
