In that case, what would you do if you were me? As I see I'm up a creek without a paddle, or at least that's how this particular dealer has made me feel.
Whilst they may have been good to me historically (a no charge is200 grill springs to mind -when it arrived in the wrong colour), this separate issue has wrangled me because I can categorically state that the wing mirror was intact when I arrived and went into their reception......

i would say that like us here at Toyota we have a good will fund to cover things like this.... don't talk to them by phone but write a letter and state your case after all it's what people say about the car that others listen to before they go out and buy.... say that this may not be the fault of a worker there but if the car park was full then there is the chance that this was a customer and as it was on the parking they may want to fix this and keep a customer ( you) happy as the whole thing has tarnished the great service you always got from a approved dealership

I work for DVLA lifting untaxed vehicles and when the clampers do there bit phones are taken before the clamp is put on and when the clamp is on. when i turn up to take it back to the compound we take the same amount f phonos again so if the own disputes any damage we look at the before and after phones to check. in my opinion the garage is at fault and they should fit the bill.

Strange that they have all but 3 seconds of cctv - about the same time it would have taken for the mechanic to walk past and hit your mirror with his toolkit..

My thoughts entirely......the Aftersales Manager's words were, "The only time you car wasn't covered was about a 3 second period when it went out of view"

A lot can happen it 3 seconds.....as we all know

Anyway I have sent an email complaint to

'[email protected]'

I have received an automated response from Customer Relations at Toyota (GB) PLC - (LEXUS DIVISION) stating that my enquiry will be looked at within 3 days....Confusedhock:

my tool kit consits of my rather large tool box same hight as me 6"2 just shorter than a yaris and approx 2,1/2 feet wide and very very heavy which would do more than crack a mirror it would wipe the side of the car out!!
why does every one jump to the tec?????it could have been while it was getting its wash?
anyway i agree the garage should stump up if no damage report was carried out then thats their problem also have you seen the cost of the mirrorglassConfusedhock:Confusedhock:Confusedhock:Confusedhock: make them pay:Shooting::Shooting::Shooting:

I wasn't specifically pointing a finger at the mechanic, simply making the point that when my IS200 was driven onto their premises the offside drivers door mirror glass was intact. I am unable to pinpoint whereabouts on their premises the damage take place, accidental or not.
What has wrangled me is the fact that Lexus - Norwich have in some respects, made out that I have 'got it wrong'.......

I regularly use my mirrors, hence I am able to confirm that both were intact at the point of entry to Lexus. I use my offside mirror with great regularity and certainly used it on at least 3 occasions whilst travelling there. The silver paintwork on both mirrors is unmarked. I don't drive around catching other peoples cars. Rabster made a good point "would I go to Lexus for a number plate bulb problem, when I have a cracked mirror glass"

If I had been responsible for breaking the glass at some other point in time, I would simply purchase a decent used one from a salvage company, or look to Ebay. Ironically Ebay has a mirror unit in Platinum Ice for £45 (Used)

If I wasn't 100% sure that the damage caused to the glass did not take place at Lexus, would I be making such an issue......I think not!!

as i said you dont need to prove a thing at all!!!!!!!if you say it happened their then it happened and they must fix that!!
i work for a main toyota dealer and we get cars in just to check the tyre pressures and they have all sorts of damage from wing mirrors to whole sides caved in so my answer would be yes you still would take your car to a main dealer with damage (I'M NOT SAYING YOU DID THOUGH)just dissmissing the you wouldnt go to a dealer with a damaged car coz i see it every day.
anyway stick to your guns you dont need to prove a thing they have to fix it and good luck!!!:thumbup:

Is the Toyota premises where you work covered by CCTV in the way which Lexus _ Norwich apparently are?
