2tongues Isn't Lexus a "executive" brand? Why are they trying to launch into a new sector, with something thats probably just a re-modelled Yaris?
It's not a Yaris, it's a 1 series/A3 competitor, and it's effectively a Prius with a different (auris looking) body. Luxury brands need small cars too, Lexus is quite late to the game comparatively.
There's two ways of looking at it, compared to the 1 series this doesn't look great, but compared to the Prius it looks fantastic

DJ Wozza just a shame they didn't make it RWD IMO.Cost issue I guess, this way they just slap the Prius drivetrain into a new body and away you go, RWD would have meant development from scratch (which is how it really should be at Lexus money).

That side on looks weird, from the B pillar forwards it looks pretty good, but behind it all looks squashed - it's not helped by that far too aggressive kink in the rear door..........

Marsdendean I don't like it. IMO Toyota are there to provide entry level cars, and Lexus to provide luxury cars. Leave the IS for the entry level Lexus.
There's a big market for "premium" small cars now though. Remember the big success of the Mini ? Smaller cars that are premium-priced can sell well and make lots of money for their makers ! Especially with a luxury hybrid perhaps ?

Also, looks like from past information its going to be another underpowered motor!
This isn't an entry level car, it's a small luxury car - I'm pretty sure you're going to be looking at £20k+ for one of these, with a full spec version probably touching £30k........not entry level at all!

I actually think the 18" rims off the GS hybrid might suit it, and possibly make it look a lot better. For me the wheels are a real problem, that's what's making it look a lot like an auris.
