My car has just been hit by a Corsa!

It was raining and getting dark and I was at junction waiting to turn right. Then I hear a tyres screech and then bang!

The impact was at about 10-15 mph on the rear bumper. I cannot tell if there is any damage at the moment as it is dark and raining. The bumper is not deformed, the boot opens and everything seems to be ok. I will check if there is any superficial damage in the day light.

I have got the guys details, but he does not want to go through insurance as he is about 17-18 years old.

I need some advice on what I need get checked out or whether I should just hand it over to the insurance companies to deal with.

On a good note, no one was hurt, no cars have been badly damaged and it could have easily been a lot worse.

Get it checked, by Lexus, and if he isn't insured tell the Police.

It is up to you not him if you go through insurance or not, so don't be fooled by that one. Again if there is any issue inform the Police.

mate i would take it to a dealership in the morning or a garage you trust and get them to investigate.

if the bumper is not deformed doesnt mean there isnt damage behind it.

on a plus side from what you are saying you may be ok

Sorry to hear this, but I think you should go through the insurance co's- you want your IS300 repaired to its original (pre-accident) state.

The 17/18 year old lad is probably trying to keep hold of any NCB he has. From what you are describing, the young lad has hit you from behind- so he is at fault.

You don't have a sore neck/back do you? *wink wink*

I think it is a clause in all insurance policy's that you have to inform your insurance company of the incident as a matter of course even if there is no claim to be made, just to cover yourself?

I bet he has no idea how much a Lex is to repair................
