having happily parked my car in a nice disabled bay and displaying our badge the last thing i expected to see was a pensioner trying to squeeze his skoda into the gap between my car and the next one and then repeatedly banging his door angrily ahainst mine in a vain effort to somehow move my lexus over the 8 or 9 inches or so he needed to gain in order that he would have room to actually get out of his car !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What was this guy on - i shouted at him to cease hitting my car and politely pointed out to him that there were TWO very clearly defined and marked parking bays both of which were very much occupied and that the area he had attempted to park in was in fact the door opening distance alloted to these disabled bays - his answer was well i cant drive round and round looking for a space because i dont have a full licence !!!!!! he then asked me if i would park his car for him ???

Luckily at this point i had a perfect spot in mind as to where to stick his car and by the time i ran around the fence to the parking area he had pulled out the "space" and was i believe intending on vacating the area in a hurry - i stood in front of his car(which in hindsight may of been reckless) until he agreed to check my car for any damage - of course as soon as he saw the scratches and chips and realised it was going to be expensive he called me a conman and went back to his car - i got my camera and snapped him and his car and dialled 999 while standing in front of his car to prevent him leaving-while i spoke to the police he was cursing at me in front of my gf and 3year old special needs child-the police said he had to by law exchange details and asked to speak to him at which point when i tried to hand him my phone he said to trace him thru his index no and drove off -- this guy was about 70 ???? - GOBSMACKED

anyway the police are dealing with it now and have photographic evidence i provided and some stuff from security cameras too - no one was hurt - but im furious and my car is scratched and chipped -not really looking for advice just wanted to rant a bit but any good advice still always welcome - i dont even have a name and address until the police get back to me so i am thinking about using the website bandit posted recently to get some details on if the car is insured and by who !

the police said to let my insurers know as a courtesy but i dont see why they should be involved and dont want to have any kind of accident on my files.

It is being treated as criminal because the guy refused to exchange details and left the scene before the police arrived

yeah thanks wozza - it was one of those very close to losing it moments , especially when he called my gf a lying c**t about having a legal blue badge and the right to use it !!! i had to hold her back tbh - you would expect that from a youngster but not from a pensioner - its rare for me to be lost for words but truly unbelievable driving and behaviour

honestly you think youve seen it all and then !!! ive got a feeling its a mobility car-the police said they will track him down and speak to his insurance company with a view to him leaving the scene and link me to his insurers - as i said to the police he will probably instruct his insurers not to pay out but apparently he may not be able to do that now as he left the scene and effectively commited an offence - i wont hold my breath for a good result though

the police seem to do less and less these days, nothing seems to "be an offence" until you physically touch someone or do 31 in a 30.

just be glad your ok mate

thats true dean and it is hard to swallow but as they say the fat lady aint sung yet !! this only just happened and i will be pursuing it all the way - i think the slight difference is that if it had been a car that put every penny i had into i probably would be incarcerated right now for assault - whereas i was able to control my anger,do the right thing and have a chance at some recompense -

you need to let your insurance know so as not to Pee them off with you not telling them right away. + with them having the other persons Reg No they can tell you who thier insurer is. My wife had a similer thing happen to her. She was told(by the other person) they where with Co-Op she told her insrance company and they told her they were with direct line and not Co-op.
