Details of how to apply for the name/address of the keeper of a car are explained here (costs £2.50 and you need to demonstrate "reasonable cause" to need the info).

You have to get in touch with the DVLA matey, and give them a good cause for wanting the information? usually costs around £3 but they might still not give it you! but if you tell them its for a hit and run on your car they sometimes pass it on?

Edit: Steve got there first :tongue_smilie:

aahhh eureka - good info chaps thanks for that - i will go to local dvla office tomorrow and complete a v888 form - i think it fits the crireria to release info on many levels so hopefully should get his details - on another topic at least i wont feel guilty about not rushing out to get my first claying done on the car as it seems a bit pointless with the new damage !!

hhmm-i got the idea from your post in camerons thread-the hire car part is standard and is a tool they use to get the insurance company to settle asap ie-the longer they delay the higher the bill will be-my only worry is if they liase with my insurance co over this as i do not want my premiums to go up next year as paying £2500 per annum just on the lex
