steviewevie That should suit you fine Dimis. And it's fine for cars that spend their life on a racetrack. But guys in the UK - I'd be a bit careful about oil coolers like that. When the weather gets cold (not so much of a problem for Dimis !), your oil will take a lot longer to warm up, therefore the engine won't be working quite so efficiently and the oil may not be doing as good a job as usual (depending on the quality/viscosity of your oil).

You can get an "oilstat", basically a thermostat, which ensures that the oil only goes to the cooler when it gets to a certain temperature, but the sort of setup you find on eBay usually doesn't have one.

Would you run your engine without a thermostat ? It would take a long time for the coolant to warm up if you did.

I am thinking to fit also a thermostat, but if i do not fit one i do not think i will have a major problem. The weather in Greece is not very cold. This year the lowest temperature in Athens was 11C and today the temperature was 20C and shinny. I bought the oil cooler basically for the summer time. The temperatures in summer reach around 40C. Usually in June the temp is around 34 and in August 35-40C and the weather starts to get cold at end of October!

I just found out that the Mocal Oil Cooler Sandwich plate has a built in thermostat, so i do not need to get one!

Was just about to say that as i have the same one, (different sized cooler though).

It has a mechanical thermostat already built in at the side of the adaptor

Some of Mocal's sandwich plates come with thermostats, and some don't. They cost a fair bit more with thermostats built in.

As I said before though, for Greece it's really not going to make any difference whether you have one or not though !

That sort of size of oil cooler is only going to hold about 0.2 litres of oil. So I doubt you'll need to add very much, if any.

Would it be worth running the car for a minuet to allow the oil to run around the system, then check.
