Hi guys - i seem to be getting my car where i want it in terms of stopping the rattling noises which turned out to be loose plastic sill gaurds and am starting to think about ice - on a 1999 se lex auto which solution would you reccomend for an ipod to connect to oem head unit ?
I would also quite like one which allows an extra av input in case i get round to fitting a diversity freeview tv in a oem satnav pod at a later date which i have access to - any links to the correct best priced grom, xcarlink or other product would be appreciated - as would a second hand one in gwo at the right price if anyone has one lying around

Ive used the grom unit for a few years, never had any problems, only just taken it out cause I installed an aftermarket HU, not sure if they have newer version that allows for the extra aux input?

Hi,

I've fitted the Grom Audio unit in my new IS200 and I am very happy with it but just a word of warning, I'm not sure that either of the two will work on the early head units.

When I had my first IS200, a 2000 model, I had the error3 come up and thought I would try to get an external six disc changer and just plug it into the socket on the back of the head unit; this is the socket that the Grom and Xcarlink both use, but it didn't work.

I'm not sure but maybe the earlier head units didn't have the socket enabled or something. My head unit was the bottom loader type and the model number on the front was 13902. I may be completely wrong and there are others who have installed the Ipod adapter with no problems.

I think if you read the original post on LOC there was others that had problems with the early head unit.

Yeah some did have problems, however mine is a 2000, bottom loading, 13902 unit and it works perfectlyConfusedmoke:

I've got an Xcarlink one mate, works great. Think the two are pretty much the same thing but mines works with the 13902.
