Hurricane Right thats simple then, also its got no aircon.

Ill have to do a bit more investigation on saturday then and see what i can find.

I also took this vid of the short shift earlier. Im pretty sure its a nasty ebay one

Looks exactly like the ebay ones! Is the shortshift any good Pete? Im looking at exactly the same shifter at the moment for the buggy. I have the shifter from a MR2 so will fit. Smile The only ones i can find are £20-30 ebay ones and they all look the same. Chrome style gear lever and the generic blue anodized base plate.

Oh, car looks sweet by the way Big Grin

Well i already have the adaptor which had been bodged with a ground, so i will do that a bit better and ground it on the gear lever assembly. When it comes to doing my full install the amps will be removed and sold - cant beat a bit of weight saving :p

Short shift wise it is very short! Mine is a bit stiff, so i will be removing it and giving it a good grease up. Mine is deffinately number 5 from that pic, with the additional drop down plate. The drop down plate removes another 6 or 7mm i believe

I find it doesnt like going into neutral nicely, and it certainly doesnt centre properly. Hopefully a good clean and grease should fix this, if not i will be removing it and putting a standard rev 3 one back in.

I think it will be fine for the buggy though

Hurricane [Image: DSC00514.jpg]

I just remembered something. If you look in the centre of this pic you can see the standard toyota plug. There is a bulge just after the connector, and the whole lot has been retaped.

Perhaps the previous bodger has cut off the 10 and 6 pin plugs and wired in the 15 pin connector?

Although that still doesnt make much sense, as the old head unit was wired using the pre-outs, which wouldnt power the speakers.

Im so cinfused with this car

Probably best to start again, identify each wire you need and go from there.

Let me know if you don't like it after you try some grease, i have the Rev 3 version and may be interested in doing a swap. Plus im not using mine at the moment so can easily send it to you to swap out.

I had fun and games over the weekend, i just haven't had time to write it up and get the pics off my phone.

Brief update then.

I got the caliper off the car nice an easily, and as expected both bottom pistons were seized in the bores. After a lot of faffing around which i will detail later tonight, i got them all apart.

There was no major damage to the pistons of the bores, so a good clean and a quick polish of the pistons had everything looking nice. I cleaned up the calipers and so far 1 bracket, and i have sprayed them with black hammerite. They look like new calipers. I just need to clean and paint the o/s bracket, and then get everything built back up.

My new discs and pads didnt turn up so im hoping they will be delivered either today or tomorrow.

I didnt really get a chance to look at the stereo situation as i was fithy most of the time from doing the brakes. I have ordered a single din blanking plate, so hopefully that will be here soon and i can get on with sorting it out.

I did however remove the nasty bit of wiring in the frunk that turned out to be for the sleepy eye mod. I dont like it so its going in the bin. After removing this shoddy bit of wiring i noticed there was still a fuse missing from the fusebox. R/H head - so that would be why the o/s headlight looked ****, it was only on low beam. One new fuse and voila, working headlights. Another bodge fixed.

I still have a lot to do to get the car ready for next saturday, so its going to be a busy few evenings this week.

To Do List

Remove and paint caliper bracket
Rebuild calipers with pistons and new seals
Fit new discs, pads, calipers and bleed whole system (parts pending)
Fit stereo (head unit only) (parts pending)
Remove, clean and grease, refit short shift
Fit new steering wheel (parts pending)
Buy and fit spiggot rings for alloy wheels (yes there are currently none fitted) (parts pending)
Remove damaged fog lights and replace with different units
Remove idle control valve, clean refit
Full service including new altenator belt (parts pending)
Good wash (probably wont have time to give it a polish)
Replace radiator (more spending)
