Right progress has slowed right down. There is no rush to get it done now as i wont have time to get it back together for saturday. My new discs and pads haven't turned up yet, so because of that i started to strip the front end down to replace the rad. Im taking the bumper off as well to clean up behind there, fit new fog lights and mesh the bumper to protect the new rad.

I have decided this isnt a nice job the bumper has tons of bolts holding it on, i gave up trying to find them all tonight, mostly due to a lack of motivation.

As you can see i finished rebuilding the calipers. All i need to do is rebuild one bracket, the parts of which are still degreasing. The reason why it seal looked wrong in the picture i posted earlier was because i had fitted it upside down. Once i realised this it went together really quickly. I think i have got the knack for doing it now. Ill test that theory with rabsters calipers.

The next pics show the state of the front end under the front plastic cover. Shows why im stripping it all down

Right as the new brakes turned up this evening, i had a renewed hope that i would be able to get it ready for Ace Cafe tomorrow. Unfortunately this has been ruined again with the realisation that the rear calipers are also completely f***ed. As with the rad this will have to wait til i get paid. Im not hanging around rebuilding them, i will just buy some refurbed ones.

Well thats about it for the minute. I cant do anything else till i get paid. Then i will buy rear calipers and a new radiator.

I have found someone on imoc with Rev 4 rear calipers so im going to buy these, i cant spare the £330 brake int want for the two calipers without brackets

Remember the £330 from brakes international includes a surcharge which you get back when you send them back your old calipers.

I haven't forgotten about getting you a bracket price either mate, but I haven't got it in my inbox so I'll have to dig out the receipt. Will try and get it tonight but I have a feeling they were more expensive than I remember. I ordered the carriers and a master cylinder and a few other bits at the same time and the lot came to about £400. The M/C was £250 so my money is on the brackets being about £40 each :o

Right, i actually have some progress on the car. I have a new rad on its way to me, hopefully for delivery tomorrow, so i decided to get the front end apart.

It might seem a bit drastic, but the pics will show why i want it all apart.

After a lot of faffing about i finally found all the bolts and fixings holding the bumper on. Only a few sheared bolts on the way, plus i had to break the clips on the one good foglight, but im not keeping them anyway.

The bumper crash bar is pretty rusty, so i will be rubbing it down and giving it a few coats of hammerite. The front panel behind the rad and up top under the plastic panel has a few rust spots, so they will get a spot of paint as well. It will only be black, but its hidden so that doesnt matter

The headlight bowls alos look a bit crust, but im not feeling like taking them apart completely, so they will get treatment in situe

I mentioned broken bolts/studs. The worst ones are on the bumper trims, which actually hold the bumper on. I hear this is common for them to rust up, but there is plenty of material there, so i should be able to sort something out.

So, hopefully updates tomorrow with a nice shiney new rad fitted
