You should be able to re-use the shims that are in there (or should be in there !). Don't throw them away with the old pads.
As Steve says they dont need to be done, but less chance of getting the clunking noise after the pads are fitted if replaced.
Marsdendean I'll just change the pads, then if i get a clucking (i'm guessing its nothing serious??) i'll have to do them seperate?
