Iv'e got that dreaded cluncking noise when turning slowly and braking.
I had this about a year ago and got my pads changed, fixing the noise.
Iv'e only done about 4 thousand miles since new pads so i know they dont need changing.
The question is, whats needed to stop the pads moving in the caliper ?
Is it anti-squeal springs or anti-squeal shims that stops the movement ?

I have the same problem too. I did remove the calipers and found out that one pot was stuck and was pushing suddenly making that clunking noise. I tried to overhaul it but after heavy breaking it came back again:cursing:

the calipers to tend to seize up often. you can open the calipers and service them but i dont know how to. somebody else will be along soon explaining how to.

clunking could also be drop links mate

Cheers for the info lads. Ive had new drop links and ball joints. Im sure it's the pads moving as before, but not sure if i need anti-squeal springs or anti-squeal shims ?

You'll probably find the shims are missing mate, if they have been left out after the pad change the pads tend to move in they holder, so the move up and down when braking causing the clunk your getting, you can buy the shim kits from Lexus dealers but not sure on the price for them?

As i said mate, when i got the pads replaced the noise went away until recently, so im thinking as the pads get thinner then the springs/shims dont hold them tight enough.
What you think mate ?

Or maybe you got away without the shims when the pads were new, but now they've worn down they're too loose ? I could be wrong though, I'm just guessing.

The front shim kit is 04945-30140, cost approx £40 (!), though that covers both sides. The anti-squeal springs are 47743-30020 (you need two for each front caliper), cost just a few quid.

The rears are 04946-30071 for the shims (for both sides), 47743-30050 (1 needed for each rear caliper).

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !
