I don't think iridium plugs existed when the MR2 was released lol. Unfortuantely pre and post ignition does happen in engines (admittedly more so in forced induction) and that breaks the plugs down. It's more of an issue with iridium than copper plugs due to their design - the tip element on an iridium plug is smaller and more easily seperated from the body.
so in my case wher it seriously overheated then.
am i more at risk of it dropping off???
I still wonder whether this is more of an MR2 issue rather than an iridium plug issue. Admittedly I know virtually nothing about the MR2 engine. But I do know that this doesn't seem to be a common issue (an issue at all ?) on the IS200s, and that the IS200 from the start had iridium plugs.
What sort of plugs do you have Chri5 ?
sure mine are iridium tipped mate
Phil will probably be able to tell you when they were put in ?
