Carpediem going to read up on LCD v Plasma as you get more plasma for your money it seems

Plasma is in some respects a dying technology - I have no idea why as I still think it's the best choice for anything over 40" until OLED comes along but due to this it is as you say better value and imho a better picture so win win

cool stuff,

so really 36" or lower is best of LCD

36" or bigger is best off Plasma

doesnt seem to be much in it except price versus size

small LCd are same as some large Plasma

42" Plasma for me i think, mounted on the wall with a swinging bracket. nice

Best to go and have a look at some TVs in a shop, see how you feel LCD and plasma compare, especially if they have some sensible demos going on showing a range of different types of picture on them (e.g. animation, landscapes, fast-moving sport, gaming, etc).

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !

Sounds pretty good to me! As Steve said good to check them out - if they don't have their own try and take along your own xbox and hook it up. It's your cash so don't be afraid to make a few demands Smile

Gord Had a plasma tv since 2003 when they cost loads Confusedhock: i changed to LCD last year.

Anyone know about the LED tv's that are about ?

Yeah same with us, bought the 50" in our living room back in 2002 for £6k Confusedhock:

LED TVs aren't great to be honest - the only upside is that they look fantastic due to the fact that they are ridiculously thin. In fact they shouldn't actually be called LED TV (Samsung are in trouble for it at the mo) because they aren't - they are LCD TVs with LED backlighting (when the backlight is normally CCFL)

The main problem I've heard of with LED is really patchy backlighting but there are others - I get the style aspect but for pure picture quality it's best to save your cash and go for a normal LCD.

While I find it amusing that people seemed to think LED TVs were OLED TVs it's still a bit misleading for them to advertise it as such.

Panasonic make very good plasma tv to me these are a step above Samsung but then my Panasonic cost 3x as much.

I agree with what most are saying if you get the store to show you plasma and lcd together if above 32 you will pick plasma, as the picture is much better.
I have both plasma 42" Panasonic and lcd 32" Samsung

Only thing to remember is that plasma still suffers from screen burn issues - it's much better than it was before (and even then I've never had a problem) but if you watch a channel with a logo on it all the time it will eventually burn into the screen.

If you don't then it's not really a concern.

And as Lexusboy says since Pioneer's pullout from plasmas, Panasonic now make the best screens (they bought up Pioneers business). However worth looking for a second hand Pioneer - if you find a good one they can be a bargain and they really do have stunning PQ

Pioneer were a level above Pansonic to give you some idea you could buy a plasma 42" Samsung for £700 a Panasonic for £1100 and a Pioneer for £2500
These prices are just guides.
